Crude oil gains on Saudi King Abdullah's death

Crude oil prices rose by 1.04 per cent on Friday at the domestic markets as news of the death of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah added to uncertainty in energy markets already facing some of the biggest shifts in decades. Abdullah died early on Friday and his brother Salman became king, the royal court in the world's top oil exporter and birthplace of Islam said in a statement carried by state television. At the MCX, crude oil futures for January 2015 contract were trading at Rs. 2,921 per barrel, up by 1.04 per cent, after opening at Rs. 2,887 against the previous closing price of Rs. 2,891. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 2,932 till the trading. (At 11.45 AM today).
