Crude oil rises on upbeat euro area data

Crude oil prices rose by 0.56 per cent on Tuesday at the domestic markets after investor confidence in the euro zone for January improved to the highest level in five months, easing concerns over the outlook for the region’s economy which raised the demand outlook for the fuel. Market research group, Sentix said its index of investor confidence improved to 0.9 this month, from a reading of -2.5 in December. Analysts had expected the index to improve to -1.0 in January. At the MCX, crude oil futures for January 2015 contract were trading at Rs. 3,197 per barrel, up by 0.56 per cent, after opening at Rs. 3,197 against the previous closing price of Rs. 3,215. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 3,190 till the trading. (At 12.00 PM today).
