Upbeat euro area data lifts Copper futures

Copper prices rose by 1.87 per cent on Thursday at the domestic markets after Industrial production in the euro zone rose broadly in line with market expectations in November, amid ongoing concerns over the outlook for economic growth in the single currency bloc which raised the demand outlook for the metal. Eurostat, the European statistics agency said industrial production increased by a seasonally adjusted 0.2 per cent in November, meeting forecasts. At the MCX, copper futures for February 2015 contract were trading at Rs.352.15 per 1 kg, up by 1.87 per cent, after opening at Rs. 347 against the previous closing price of Rs. 345.65. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 353 till the trading. (At 11.42 AM today).
