Copper gains on upbeat US NAHB Housing

Copper prices rose by 0.53 per cent on Thursday at the domestic markets after National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo housing market index rose more than expected in April, easing concerns over the health of the housing market which raised the demand outlook for the metal. NAHB said that its Housing Market Index increased to 56.0 this month from 52.0 in March. Analysts expected the index to rise to 55.0 in April. At the MCX, copper futures for April 2015 contract were trading at Rs.377.50 per 1 kg, up by 0.53 per cent, after opening at Rs. 376.90 against the previous closing price of Rs. 375.50. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 378.25 till the trading. (At 11.48 AM today).
