Mentha oil futures rise 2.85% as demand picks up

Mentha oil prices moved up by 2.85 per cent to Rs 997.60 per kg in futures trade today as speculators indulged in creating fresh positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on rising demand from consuming industries. Besides, restricted arrivals from growing region supported the upside At MCX, Mentha oil futures for April 2015 contract, at MCX, were trading at Rs. 997.60 per kg, up by 2.85 per cent after opening at Rs. 971 against the previous closing price of Rs. 970. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 1003.80 till the trading. (At 2.45 PM today).
Traders said fresh positions built up by speculators, driven by pickup in demand from consuming industries in the spot market, mainly led to rise in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
