Mentha oil gains 1.72% on strong demand

Mentha oil prices climbed 1.72 per cent to Rs 1,023.40 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions, amid strong domestic demand and tight supplies from producing belts. At MCX, Mentha oil futures for May 2015 contract, at MCX, were trading at Rs. 1,023.40 per kg, up by 1.72 per cent after opening at Rs. 1,022.20 against the previous closing price of Rs. 1,006.10. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 1,037.80 till the trading. (At 2.45 PM today).
Traders said apart from a firm trend at spot market on the back of rising demand from consuming industries, reports of damage to standing crop due to unseasonal rains in growing regions, mainly pushed up mentha oil prices at futures trade.
