The Indian benchmarks ended on a lower note on persistent selling by foreign institutional investors as concerns regarding MAT continue to float around. Weakening of rupee along with rebound in crude oil prices has dampened the sentiments. Further, overseas funds sold around a net $630 million in Indian shares and bonds on Wednesday, marking their biggest single-day sales since January 2014, reinforcing fears that an emerging market darling is losing its allure. BSE Bankex and BSE Capital Goods index slumped by over 2 per cent followed by counters like Healthcare, Auto, Consumer Durables, Realty and Power, all dipping by 1 per cent each. However, BSE IT index surged by over 1 per cent. The BSE SENSEX closed at 26599.11 down by -118.26 points or by -0.44 per cent and then NSE Nifty closed at 8057.3 down by -39.7 points or by -0.49 per cent.
