Crude oil rises on firm overseas trend

Crude oil futures closed higher in the domestic market on Thursday as speculators raised their bets amid a firm trend overseas. Analysts said rise in crude oil futures was largely in tandem with a firming trend in global market as ongoing cuts of piped Canadian crude to the United States added to falling US crude inventories, while expectations of a prolonged OPEC- led production cut also offered support. At the MCX, crude oil futures for December 2017 contract closed at Rs 3798 per barrel, up by 1.36 per cent, after opening at Rs 3755, against a previous close of Rs 3747. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 3815.
