Crude oil down as traders await US crude supply data

Crude oil futures closed lower in the domestic market on Wednesday as traders awaited weekly U.S. government data on domestic crude supplies and production, as well as separate, monthly global energy reports due later this week. Traders are also looking forward to data that will show the state of the oil market and the impact of high oil prices on global consumption. Some analysts warn that consumers might reduce their intake in response to elevated prices. At the MCX, crude oil futures for January 2018 contract closed at Rs 4084 per barrel, down by 0.05 per cent, after opening at Rs 4074, against a previous close of Rs 4086. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 4043.
