Crude oil rises on drop in crude stockpiles

Crude oil futures closed high in the domestic market on Monday on the back of halted production at a Libyan oil field and an unexpected drop in U.S. crude stockpiles. The weekly U.S. petroleum inventory report due Wednesday is likely to provide some support, as a large build to crude stocks as is seasonal for February continues to be errant amid lower net imports. At the MCX, crude oil futures for March 2018 contract closed at Rs 4149 per barrel, up by 0.58 per cent, after opening at Rs 4130, against a previous close of Rs 4125. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 4172.
