Gold dips as investors await US employment data

Gold futures closed lower in the domestic market on Friday as investors awaited the latest monthly data on U.S. employment for hints on the pace of the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate increases. Prices for the metal had declined after the release of the Fed Beige Book, which offered a snapshot of US domestic economic activity. At the MCX, gold futures for April 2018 contract ended at Rs 30403 per 10 grams, down by 0.09 per cent, after opening at Rs 30,384 against a previous close of Rs 30,429. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 30,280.
