Crude oil rises as equities bounce back

Crude oil futures closed higher in the domestic market on Tuesday as equities and other assets perceived as risky posted a partial bounceback from Monday’s sharp selloff. Prices had slid to a two-week low Monday, after China imposed import tariffs on U.S. goods. That was a response to tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum imports introduced by the Trump administration earlier this year. At the MCX, crude oil futures for April 2018 contract closed at Rs 4125 per barrel, up by 0.32 per cent, after opening at Rs 4103, against a previous close of Rs 4112. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 4144.
