Gold rises as dollar dips

Gold futures closed higher in the domestic market on Monday as the dollar struggled then steadied and select stock indexes flirted with correction territory. The move allowed the haven precious metal to build on what was a third quarterly gain in a row to start the year, although, notably, the slimmest three-month rise for the asset in seven years. At the MCX, gold futures for April 2018 contract ended at Rs 30901 per 10 grams, up by 1.62 per cent, after opening at Rs 30,545 against a previous close of Rs 30,408. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 30,995.
