Crude oil rises on trade war tension

Crude oil futures closed higher in the domestic market on Monday as traders assessed escalating trade tensions between the U.S. and China. The Chinese government announced plans to place tariffs on U.S. oil imports as well as other energy products, so trade war fears are scaring oil traders into believing that this could lead to lower economic growth and reduced oil demand. At the MCX, crude oil futures for June 2018 contract closed at Rs 4487 per barrel, up by 1.17 per cent, after opening at Rs 4401, against a previous close of Rs 4435. It touched an intra-day high of Rs 4489.
