Crude oil rises amid tension between US, Iran

Crude oil futures closed higher in the domestic market on Tuesday finding support amid concerns over underlying tensions between the U.S. and Iran that could further disrupt supply to the global market and as China prepared to stimulate its economy. Oil-market observers are also looking ahead to the weekly U.S. petroleum inventory data from the American Petroleum Institute published later Tuesday, as well as official data from the Energy Information Administration on Wednesday. At the MCX, crude oil futures for August 2018 contract closed at Rs 4745 per barrel, up by 1.17 per cent, after opening at Rs 4678, against a previous close of Rs 4690. It touched an intra-day high of Rs 4778.
