Crude oil rises as US crude inventories drop

Crude oil futures closed higher in the domestic market on Wednesday after a larger-than-expected drop in weekly inventories. The Energy Information Administration said oil stocks fell by 6.1 million barrels in the week ended July 20. A tick higher in refining activity, in combination with a jump in crude exports and lower imports, has led to a solid draw to crude inventories At the MCX, crude oil futures for August 2018 contract closed at Rs 4770 per barrel, up by 0.53 per cent, after opening at Rs 4747, against a previous close of Rs 4745. It touched an intra-day high of Rs 4798.
