Cardamom prices edged higher by 0.34 per cent to Rs 847.60 per kg in futures trade today after participants enlarged their positions, taking positive cues from spot market on improved demand. At MCX, Cardamom futures for May 2015 contract were trading at Rs 847.60 per kg, up by 0.34 per cent, after opening at Rs. 841.80 against the previous closing price of Rs. 844.70. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 850.20 till the trading. (At 10.35 AM today). Traders said speculators built up fresh positions, driven by pickup in demand in the spot market, mainly influenced cardamom prices at futures trade. The important markets for cardamom in India are Vandanmendu, Bodinayakanur, Kumily, Thekkady, Kumbum and Pattiveeran Patti in Kerala.

Cardamom prices fell by another 0.40 per cent to Rs 846.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators indulged in reducing positions, triggered by higher supply from major producing belts. Besides, subdued demand in the spot market fuelled the downtrend.
At MCX, Cardamom futures for May 2015 contract were trading at Rs. 846.20 per kg, down by 0.40 per cent, after opening at Rs. 847.20 against the previous closing price of Rs. 849.60. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 845.50 till the trading. (At 10.30 AM today). Traders said offloading of position by traders in the midst of weak demand in the spot market against higher supplies from producing belts mainly kept cardamom prices lower at futures trade.
The important markets for cardamom in India are Vandanmendu, Bodinayakanur, Kumily, Thekkady, Kumbum and Pattiveeran Patti in Kerala.
