Kalyan Jewellers announced that it is planning to put in Rs 800 crore during the current financial year for the purpose of setting up 22 showrooms during the period.
Commenting on this, T S Kalyanaraman, chairman and managing director, Kalyan Jewellers, who announced the world's largest jewellery showroom in Chennai said, “with it the number of showrooms will increase to 78 and by end of this fiscal will go up to 100”
Kalyan Jewellers recorded Rs 10,000 crore turnover targeting to close Rs 13,000 crore end of 2015-2016.
The new showroom in Chennai, spread over in 40,000 sq ft was set up at an investment of Rs 200 crore which is the largest investment in a store, according to Ramesh Kalyanaraman, executive director, Kalyan Jewellers.
Recently, Warburg Pincus picked up minority stake in Kalyan Jewellers for Rs 1,200 crore.
