White metal rises on uptick in demand

Silver futures closed higher in the domestic market on Friday as participants extended their positions in the precious metal on increase in demand in the domestic spot market. Marketmen attributed the rise in silver prices at futures trade to a positive trend in the precious metals in the domestic market. At the MCX, silver futures for March 2017 contract closed at Rs 43310 per kg, up by 1.06 per cent, after opening at Rs 43086, against a previous close of Rs 42856. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 43425.
