Crude oil futures closed lower in the domestic market on Friday after data showed U.S. drillers added rigs.
Still, geopolitical worries and continued expectations that members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and other major producers will extend output curbs when they meet at the end of the month helped to lift crude futures to healthy weekly gains.
At the MCX, crude oil futures for November 2017 contract closed at Rs 3713 per barrel, down by 0.67 per cent, after opening at Rs 3714, against a previous close of Rs 3738. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 3699.
