Crude oil dips as US crude production rises

Crude oil futures closed lower in the domestic market on Thursday as weekly U.S. crude production remained close to a record, offsetting support from a ninth week in a row of declines in domestic supplies. The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported Thursday that domestic crude supplies dropped 6.9 million barrels for the week ended Jan 12. At the MCX, crude oil futures for January 2018 contract closed at Rs 4081 per barrel, down by 0.10 per cent, after opening at Rs 4100, against a previous close of Rs 4085. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 4052.
