Gold rises on firm global cues, jewellers' buying

Gold futures were up today owing to a firm trend overseas amid sustained buying by local jewellers.
Traders said sentiment in gold remained strong following positive trend overseas on the back of a weaker dollar, while investors awaited US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's first congressional testimony for clues on the future pace of monetary tightening.
At the MCX, gold futures for April 2018 contract is trading at Rs 30578 per 10 grams, up by 0.15 per cent, after opening at Rs 30540, against a previous close of Rs 30531. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 30610 (at 14:46 hours).
