Gold up as US dollar dips

Gold futures closed higher in the domestic market on Monday as the U.S. dollar fell following news of a trade agreement between the U.S. and Mexico. The precious metal advanced on the greenback as NAFTA deal optimism cancelled out some of the trade war concerns in August. At the MCX, gold futures for October 2018 contract ended at Rs 30005 per 10 grams, up by 0.34 per cent, after opening at Rs 29,910 against a previous close of Rs 29,903. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 30,081.
