Gold flat on dipping US dollar
12/09/2018 07:20
Gold futures closed flat in the domestic market on Tuesday as the dollar eased back from their best levels of the day. Market participants are focused on a mix of trade headlines and economic data, as the talks with Canada on the future of the North American Free Trade Agreement are in full swing. Reports also said the U.S. and European Union may be getting closer to a trade agreement after recent meetings. Higher rates can hurt the appeal of gold and strengthen the U.S. dollar, which can make assets priced in the currency more expensive to buyers using other currencies. At the MCX, gold futures for October 2018 contract ended at Rs 30715 per 10 grams, up by 0.00 per cent, after opening at Rs 30,630 against a previous close of Rs 30,715. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 30,738.
