Lead futures soften amid sluggish demand

Lead futures were trading lower during the noon trade in the domestic market on Thursday as speculators cut positions amid subdued demand at the spot markets.
Analysts attributed weakness in lead prices at futures to cutting down of bets by participants due to tepid demand from battery makers at the spot market.
At the MCX, lead futures for October 2018 contract is trading at Rs 140.90 per kg, down by 0.98 per cent, after opening at Rs 141.00, against a previous close of Rs 142.3. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 140.10 (at 12: 45 hours).
